The Schleich figures are modelled with attention to detail, hand-painted with care, and provide educationally valuable playtime. Common seal babies are born in the Arctic pack ice. After birth, the mother immediately begins suckling her offspring with fatty milk, so that it can develop a warm layer of fat. When she returns from hunting, she can tell her own little ones apart from the others by their smell.
